Plastering

Smooth, durable plaster finishes for both interior and exterior walls.

Quality Plastering in Malta

Plastering is the foundation of a beautiful interior. Once electrical and plumbing rough-in is complete, our plasterers apply base coats followed by a fine finishing coat to achieve flat, smooth surfaces ready for painting or tiling. We also carry out external render work for facades and boundary walls across all of Malta.

Our team has years of experience working on Maltese limestone and blockwork construction, understanding how to properly bond plaster to different substrate types including the dense local stone that is common in older Maltese properties.

Why It Matters

Good plastering requires skill and patience. Rushing the process or using poor materials leads to cracking, hollow spots and uneven surfaces that become very visible once painted. Our experienced plasterers take the time to prepare surfaces correctly, apply coats at the right intervals and achieve a finish that holds up long-term.

Frequently Asked Questions — Plastering

The scratch coat (first coat) is applied rough to form the base layer and provide a key for the next coat. The finish coat is trowelled smooth to create a flat, paint-ready surface. On some substrates a bonding agent is applied first to improve adhesion.

In some cases yes, but paint must be stripped or the surface treated with a bonding agent where adhesion is poor. We assess each surface before starting to ensure the new plaster will bond correctly and last.

On active construction sites we work within the project schedule and apply a diluted mist coat to seal the fresh plaster surface as soon as it is firm enough, rather than waiting for a fixed period. The key is applying a breathable first coat that allows moisture to escape from the plaster as it cures.

Yes — we apply sand and cement external render on facades, boundary walls and exterior surfaces. We also work with thin-coat silicone render systems for a more durable and weather-resistant external finish.

Yes — we cut back cracked or hollow areas, treat the surface with bonding agent, reinforce with fibreglass mesh where needed, and re-plaster to a smooth finish that integrates with the surrounding wall.
